Bangalore Metro Phase 3: Routes, Interchanges and Sumadhura Projects Near Metro Stations
By Sayantan Mukherjee · August 28, 2026 · 7 min read
Summary
Bangalore Metro Phase 3 is a 44.65-km expansion, currently under construction, with 31 stations across two corridors: the Orange Line from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura and the Grey Line from Hosahalli to Kadabagere. Sumadhura Capitol Residences is the closest Sumadhura project to a Bangalore metro station. It sits about 180 metres from Kadugodi Tree Park metro station on the operational Purple Line, a two- to three-minute walk. Five other Sumadhura projects — Folium, Edition, Solace, Sarang and Elysium — are within 6.6 km of an operational or under-construction station.
For Bangalore homebuyers, metro proximity matters primarily because it can reduce dependence on road-based commuting.
That matters particularly in East Bangalore, where residential neighbourhoods such as Whitefield, Marathahalli and Panathur sit close to major employment corridors. The operational Purple Line already connects Whitefield with central and western Bangalore, while future network expansion is expected to create more interchange options.
The direct beneficiary is the entire area around the metro network, making it one of the most coveted premium residential hubs. Sumadhura Capitol Residences, Sumadhura Sarang, Sumadhura Edition, Folium by Sumadhura and Sumadhura Solace are some of the best-connected luxury projects in East Bangalore.

Which Sumadhura projects are closest to the operational Purple Line?
Sumadhura Capitol Residences: 180 metres from Kadugodi Tree Park
Best for: buyers who want the strongest existing metro proximity.
Sumadhura Capitol Residences is at Hope Farm Junction, Whitefield, about 180 metres from Kadugodi Tree Park station on the operational Purple Line, a two- to three-minute walk for residents. Capitol Residences also has road access to KR Puram, where the Purple Line meets the Blue Line. From that interchange a resident reaches both the ITPL belt and the ORR tech corridor without a car.
Sumadhura Capitol Residences covers 4.1 acres and reserves 73–77% of its area for open space, with a Vastu-compliant, energy-envelope design. The clubhouse runs to 22,000 sq ft and carries 40 or more indoor and outdoor amenities. Other features include 8-foot main doors and vehicle-free ground-level zones. Possession is targeted for December 2027.

Sumadhura Sarang: 6.0 km from Hopefarm Channasandra
Best for: buyers prioritising a Whitefield location and earlier possession while retaining access to the Purple Line.
Sumadhura Sarang is in Doddanahalli, Whitefield, 6.0 km from Hopefarm Channasandra station and 6.6 km from Kadugodi Tree Park station. Both are on the operational Purple Line, so Sarang has two station options rather than one.
Sumadhura Sarang covers 4.65 acres with 3 and 4 BHK apartments starting around ₹1.5 crore. The 33,000 sq ft clubhouse and the tower geometry are the two highlights: no residence shares a wall, and each gets 270-degree openness. The design is biophilic, with cross-ventilation, sunlit interiors and a botanical garden at the base. Sumadhura Sarang’s possession for Phase 1 is targeted for December 2026 and Phase 2 for June 2027.
Sumadhura Edition: 3.9 km from Nallurhalli
Best for: buyers who want a larger Whitefield development and are comfortable with a short road connection to the Purple Line.
Sumadhura Edition is in Siddapura, Whitefield, 3.9 km from Nallurhalli station on the operational Purple Line, roughly eight minutes by car. Nallurhalli sits on the Purple Line, which runs from Baiyappanahalli to Mysore Road and carries the east–west trip across the city. That line is also where Phase 3 connects: the Grey Line terminates at Hosahalli and the Orange Line touches Mysuru Road, both Purple Line stations. Once Phase 3 opens, a Sumadhura Edition resident reaches Magadi Road and ORR West on a single interchange.
Sumadhura Edition project has 2, 3 and 4 BHK apartments across 13 acres, with a 68,000 sq ft clubhouse and more than 150 amenities. Possession is targeted for December 2029.
Folium by Sumadhura: 3.7 km from Nallurhalli
Best for: buyers who value a large-format community alongside metro access.
Folium by Sumadhura is in Whitefield Village, 3.7 km from Nallurhalli station on the operational Purple Line, roughly eight minutes by car. ITPL is a similar drive.
Folium by Sumadhura spans more than 16 acres with 3, 3.5 and 4 BHK homes priced from around ₹3 crore, and holds IGBC Platinum pre-certification. The 54,000 sq ft clubhouse is the anchor, built around six branded fitness, leisure and culture experiences. Possession is March 2028.
Sumadhura Solace: 5.7 km from Nallurhalli
Best for: buyers looking at the Marathahalli–Whitefield employment corridor.
Sumadhura Solace is in Marathahalli, 5.7 km from Nallurhalli station on the operational Purple Line, roughly ten minutes by car. It will also be served by the planned Marathahalli station on the Blue Line, which gives it two lines once Phase 2A opens.
Sumadhura Solace has 777 homes across seven towers on 11.6 acres. Landscaped open space accounts for 80% of the site, and the branded clubhouse runs to more than 42,000 sq ft. The project is under construction with possession expected in December 2029.
Is Sumadhura Elysium near the Blue Line?
Yes. Sumadhura Elysium in Panathur is positioned on Blue Line connectivity, with the proposed Kadubeesanahalli station approximately 2.8 km away. The Blue Line is currently under construction. The ORR stretch (Phase 2A) is targeted for late 2026 and the airport stretch (Phase 2B) for December 2027.
Sumadhura Elysium is a 3 BHK and 4 BHK residential development in Panathur, with possession targeted for December 2029.
What is Bangalore Metro Phase 3?
Bangalore Metro Phase 3 is a cabinet-approved project with two elevated corridors covering 44.65 km and 31 stations.
Corridor-1, the Orange Line, runs from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura along Outer Ring Road West: 32.15 km and 22 stations. Corridor-2, the Grey Line, runs from Hosahalli to Kadabagere along Magadi Road: 12.50 km and 9 stations. Once Phase 3 is operational, Bangalore will have 220.20 km of active metro network. The Orange Line connects Hebbal, BEL Circle, Goraguntepalya, Sumanahalli, Nagarabhavi and Mysuru Road. It meets the Grey Line at Sumanahalli Cross and links to the Blue, Red and Pink Lines at Kempapura and Hebbal. For east Bangalore, the relevant connections are at Mysuru Road and Hosahalli, both Purple Line stations.
Phase 3 also carries India's first integrated double-decker metro corridor — an elevated structure with the metro on the upper deck and a road flyover below.
Which localities does each Phase 3 corridor serve?
| Corridor | Route | Distance | Stations | Localities served | Status (Sep 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Corridor-1 (Orange) | JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura, along ORR West | 32.15 km | 22 | JP Nagar 4th and 5th Phase, Kadirenahalli, Kamakya Bus Depot, Hosakerehalli, PES University area, Mysuru Road, Nagarabhavi, Sumanahalli Cross, Peenya, BEL Circle, Hebbal, Kempapura | Civil work under way on the first 18.5 km |
| Corridor-2 (Grey) | Hosahalli to Kadabagere, along Magadi Road | 12.50 km | 9 | Hosahalli, Kamakshipalya, Sumanahalli, Anjana Nagar, Kadabagere | Tenders expected |
Station status and construction timelines stated as of September 2026. Metro project timelines are subject to revision by BMRCL.
How does Phase 3 change connectivity for Whitefield and Panathur?
Phase 3 does not run through Whitefield or Panathur. Both corridors are in west and north Bangalore. The benefit to east Bangalore is indirect, and it comes through interchanges.
Mysuru Road and Hosahalli are Purple Line stations. Whitefield residents already use the Purple Line, and Phase 3 turns those two stations into transfers onto the Orange and Grey Lines. That opens Magadi Road, Nagarabhavi and ORR West on a single change.
For Panathur, the relevant line is the Blue Line, which serves Sumadhura Elysium and runs along ORR to the airport. The Orange Line meets the Blue Line at Kempapura and Hebbal, connecting Panathur to north and west Bangalore once both are running.
How is Phase 3A different from Phase 3?
Phase 3 is the Orange and Grey Lines: 44.65 km, 31 stations, already under construction. It received Union Cabinet approval on 16 August 2024. BMRCL floated civil work tenders for the first 18.5 km of the Orange Line in three packages worth roughly ₹4,229 crore in January 2026, with Grey Line tenders expected to follow. Ground construction began in June 2026, targeting operations by 2031. [Source]
Phase 3A is the Red Line: a 36.59 km corridor with 28 stations connecting Sarjapur in the south-east to Hebbal in the north, with 17 elevated and 11 underground stations. The Karnataka Cabinet approved it in December 2024, but Union Cabinet approval is still pending. The revised DPR is with the Union Government. Geotechnical surveys began in January 2026, and full construction starts after Union Cabinet approval, targeting operations by December 2030.
Does metro proximity actually raise property prices in Bangalore?
Published estimates put the increase at 10–30% during the planning stage, with a 5–20% baseline premium once a line is operational. These figures come from a Mordor Intelligence report on real estate growth drivers and forecasts for 2026–2031 [Source]
A separate working paper studies the effect directly in Bangalore. It examines how Namma Metro has affected residential property values across different neighbourhoods, using hedonic price regression on household survey data alongside qualitative analysis. The regression results show that proximity to metro stations and higher household income both drive significant increases in housing value. Dense areas and longer metro operating history push values higher, while distance from the city centre and higher metro connection costs pull them down.
