operators control lifting machinery using buttons, levers, and pedals. They attach loads to hoists and cranes and safely remove them. Occasionally, they set up and repair equipment.
Role :
Operates tower crane to lift and move building materials from ground storage areas and trucks to top of building under construction: Climbs ladder inside vertically mounted tower to gain access to control pad suspended under crane boom.
Pushes or pulls levers on control console to rotate counter-balanced horizontally mounted boom to extend or retract trolley along boom, and to raise and lower hook to which loads are attached.
Controls crane movement in response to hand signals or radio commands by supervisor or signaler.
May operate crane from remote console on top of building.
May operate radio-controlled crane.
Load and unload bundles from trucks, and move containers to storage bins, using moving equipment.
Move levers, depress foot pedals, and turn dials to operate cranes, cherry pickers, electromagnets, or other moving equipment for lifting, moving, and placing loads.
Review daily work and delivery schedules to determine orders, sequences of deliveries, and special loading instructions.
Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and grappling devices, making repairs as necessary.
Weigh bundles, using floor scales, and record weights for company records.
Direct truck drivers backing vehicles into loading bays, and cover, uncover, and secure loads for delivery.
Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms and lifting accessories in order to prevent malfunctions and damage.
Job Specification :
Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities in order to prevent overload & Must possess NCCCO or equivalent crane operator certification.Knowledge of OSHA Regulations, and ANSI Standards in crane operations.Daily and monthly equipment inspections.
Soft Skills :
CDL Class A & B License, Operating all construction equipments under supervision.
